The Potomac Yard Metrorail Implementation Work Group (PYMIG) will hold a meeting to provide Potomac Yard Metrorail Station project up-dates on the project design, and amendment to the Development Special Use Permit (DSUP) (Mon. 10/29 at 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St.).

The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce will hold a panel discussion on how Public/Private Partnerships could be used as an innovative and effective way for the City of Alexandria to make the most of its real estate assets and help the City to increase its competitiveness in the region (Tues. 10/30 at 7:30 – 9:00 AM, Holiday Inn Alexandria at Carlyle, 2460 Eisenhower Ave. Registration Required).

The Alexandria Small Business Development Center will be holding a workshop titled, “Running Your Nonprofit: Tips for Managing & Growing.” Are you managing a new nonprofit or want a refresher on how to keep your nonprofit up-to-date and compliant? Hear from local experts about how you can better manage and grow your nonprofit organization (Tues. 10/30 at 9:00 AM – noon, AEDP/SBDC Boardroom, 625 N. Washington St. Registration Required).

The Alexandria Planning Commission will hold their annual retreat (Tues. 10/30, noon – 5:00 PM, Brandywine Living in Alexandria, 5550 Cardinal Place).

The Old Town North Urban Design Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting where items of interest include the third project presentation on the Redevelopment of the Craddock Site, 1201 N. Royal St. and the second presentation on the Redevelopment of the WMATA Bus Barn Site, 600 N. Royal St (Weds. 10/31 at 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM, City Hall, Sister Cities Room, 301 King St.).

The Washington Business Journal is hosting a celebration to honor the successes of 75 companies selected for the 2018 list of the WBJ’s Fastest Growing Companies in the Washington region. Included on the prestigious list are Alexandria’s own Culmen International LLC, TENICA and Associates LLC, and Tribal Tech LLC. Congrats! The Planning Commission will hold their regularly scheduled meeting where items of interest include a Special Use Permit (SUP) for B. Doughnut at 215 S. Union Street, a Text Amendment to allow for the Consolidation of the Boards of Architectural Review and a review of a recommendation for the Eisenhower West-Landmark Van Dorn Developer Contribution Policy (Thurs. 11/01 at 7:00 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers, 301 King St.).

Alexandria Stylebook is hosting its Second Annual Uptown Block Party. The businesses on King Street from Payne to Patrick Streets invite you to join them for a good ol’ fashioned block party. There will be music, raffles, face painting, balloon animals, in-store events, discounts, Mobile Art Lab, and free treats! (Sat. 11/03 at 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, King St., Between Payne & Patrick St.)

Rock the Block is a new culinary tour coming to Alexandria. Eat at the top restaurants in Old Town and help rescue children through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
