This Week: Events & Activities
On Monday night, Capitol Post hosted their fourth Startup Standup pitch competition. The companies from their Startup School Fall 2018 cohort pitched to a panel of esteemed judges to win a $3,500 cash prize AND to keep everyone on their toes, there were fun karaoke performances from local non-profits in between the pitches.
At the In-Person Community Listening Session on Monday, there was a session on what Amazon’s new headquarters could mean for the community at Gunston Middle School.
The City of Alexandria Waterfront Commission will hold their regularly scheduled meeting where items of interest include a King St. Park at the Waterfront Naming Update and Archaeological Findings & Updates (Tues. 12/18 at 7:30 AM, Sister Cities Conference Room City Hall, 301 King St.).
NAIOP Northern Virginia will hold their annual meeting and luncheon featuring a panel of the Northern Virginia economic development directors, including AEDP’s Stephanie Landrum (Weds. 12/19 at 11:30 AM, Falls Church Marriot Fairview Park, 3111 Fairview Park Dr, Falls Church, VA 22042. Registration Required.).
The Old and Historic Alexandria District Board of Architectural Review (BAR) will hold its regularly scheduled public hearing. Items of interest include a request for alterations at the IDI Group’s 205 Strand Street, a request for addition and alterations for a new retail space and changes at 115 South Union Street, and a request for addition and alterations at 699 Prince Street – CAS Riegler’s hotel project (Wed. 12/19 at 7:30 PM, City Hall, Council Chamber, 301 King St.).
The Alexandria Economic Development Partnership offices will be closed on Monday, December 24th – Tuesday, January 1st.
