save the world

From retail and restaurants to tech and media, contractors to coworking spaces, large, small, and everything in between, a diverse array of businesses call Alexandria home. In our blog series, Growing in Alexandria, we sit down to talk with businesses around the City to learn more about who they are, what they do, and why they love it here. Have an idea for a business in Alexandria to talk to? Email us!

For this edition of the Growing in Alexandria blog, we talked with Marci Weis, President of Save the World. Their mission is to utilize our business relationships to protect, educate, and serve our communities–and, in a greater sense, our world.

AEDP: To get us started, please tell us a little about Save the World.

Marci: Save the World, LLC carefully assembles, cultivates, and promotes products and technologies that equip people to safely navigate these times using cost-effective and environmentally friendly methods.

AEDP: How did you get started?

Marci:  Actually, very much by happenstance – the Yiddish word ‘bishert.’ It was meant to be. I’ve always been intrigued by new ideas and technological advancements. One Sunday morning, on my way to my espresso machine, my better half sent me a picture of this small appliance that produced aqueous ozone from simple tap water. Not being a fan of toxic chemicals and always finding our household challenged (especially since COVID-19) to find and maintain safe cleaning products, I was instantly totally intrigued. Ever since that Sunday morning, I’ve found myself driven, to put together a collective of environmentally safe, technically advanced, cost-effective solutions to help others with the challenges we’ve faced.

AEDP: What has been the biggest challenge for running your own business?

Marci: Trying to figure out a way to make more hours in the day lol. Fortunately, the people and energy I’ve attracted mirror my own. I’m having the time of my life and finding that those around me find my energy and sense of purpose to be very contagious.

AEDP: And how would you measure success?

Marci: To me, success has always been measured by my ability to be of value and support to those around me.

AEDP: Would you share a fun fact about yourself?

Marci: I am a tremendous espresso aficionado and have a collection of espresso cups from our travels abroad. I look forward to picking that up again after the pandemic is finally behind us.

AEDP: Finally, can you tell us why you decided to locate in Alexandria?

Marci: I stumbled into moving to Del Ray almost 35 years ago, from suburban life in Oakton, VA, for a relationship. Although Alexandria and Del Ray were much smaller back then, I love that we still maintain the same close-knit family, community feeling that we’ve always been known for in a very centrally located place.
