Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson announced yesterday that the long-awaited Potomac Yard-VT Metro Station will open May 19, 2023.
Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority General Manager Randy Clarke joined Wilson at a media tour of the new station to make the announcement.
Potomac Yard-VT will be Alexandria’s fifth station, Metro’s 98th, but only the second infill station.
The station helped ignite commercial development in Potomac Yard, where Virginia Tech is currently constructing its Innovation Campus, a graduate-level campus dedicated to computer science and engineering set to open in 2024.
Currently, 550,000 square feet of commercial space has been constructed, with Virginia Tech and Oakville Triangle now under construction.
