AEDP Welcomes Marian Marquez as New Senior Vice President

Her portfolio will include business development, small business, and real estate

AEDP is thrilled to welcome Marian Marquez as our new senior vice president. Marian will oversee the day-to-day operations of our business attraction and retention, real estate, and small business and entrepreneurship teams.

Marian comes to Alexandria from Arlington Economic Development, where she is currently the acting deputy director. Before that, she was the director of business investment, overseeing Arlington’s work in business recruitment and retention, international trade, entrepreneur support, and the innovation economy. She was part of the team that helped bring Amazon’s HQ2 to Arlington and the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus to Alexandria.

Before joining Arlington’s team, Marian spent several years with Exxon Mobil Corporation and with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. She holds a B.A. in Russian studies from Stanford University and a master’s degree in international business from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.

In her free time, Marian can be found plotting her next travel adventure and chasing her three young kids around town. Her favorite spot in ALX is BARCA and the waterfront and she is very excited to discover more!
