Arlandria
Home to one of the more concentrated Latino populations in the region, Arlandria borders Arlington County and is comprised of a strong residential and commercial corridor that runs mainly along Mt. Vernon Avenue. It is also known by some residents as Chirilagua, after a region of El Salvador that was previously home to many residents.

- Arlandria sits adjacent to two of the most prominent projects in the Washington, DC area – Amazon’s HQ2 and Virginia Tech’s Innovation Campus both in National Landing. Arlandria is poised to capture economic spin-off activity from these catalyst projects.
- Alexandria has started an update to the two Mount Vernon Avenue Plans that covers Arlandria and its neighbor, Del Ray. The goal of the plans is to make sure spin-off economic activity is captured, while protecting the uniqueness of the communities. The update addresses:
- Business District sustainability and competitiveness;
- Updates to guidelines for redevelopment sites;
- Pedestrian safety and accessibility;
- Historic preservation priorities, and
- Equity in the provision of services and infrastructure.
- Arlandria is also one of four Opportunity Zones in Alexandria, where businesses and real estate owners are incentivized to spur economic development through federal tax benefits provided to investors who invest eligible capital into the community.

- The community has a diverse array of single family detached, townhome, and duplex housing, and large multi-family rental apartment developments.
- Retail & restaurants, both national and locally owned, line Arlandria’s main street- Mt. Vernon Avenue. Arlandria is home to one of the largest clusters of Latino-owned and operated markets and stores in the Washington, DC region.
- The community is known for its vibrancy as seen through murals, outdoor Farmers and Artisans Markets, active parks that host pick-up soccer and futbol games and its great mix of international cuisines.
- Arlandria is directly served by City and regional bus lines that connect the community to the Metro system as well as the rest of Alexandria.

Notable Neighbors
- One of the development teams behind the popular Wharf project in Washington, DC announced plans to redevelop a shopping center in Arlandria in January 2020. Madison Marquette has revived the plans for Del Ray North- a total of 624 apartments and 44,500 square feet of ground-floor retail anchored by MOM’s Organic Market.
- Arlandria is home to The Birchmere, a world-famous concert venue known for hosting concerts and music events in an intimate, relaxed setting. The music hall hosts an impressive list of acts- Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lyle Lovett, Shawn Colvin, Jerry Jeff Walker, Dave Matthews, Vince Gill, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, and k.d. Lang are just a few of the artists counted as good friends of the Birchmere.
- Unique Fact – The Foo Fighters song Arlandria references the neighborhood were band member Dave Grohl lived.
